David Gilmour and wife Polly Samson will host a live streaming event from their home today to promote the release of Samson’s new novel “A Theatre for Dreamers.”

The event will take place at 8:30 pm BST (3:30 pm EDT) on the Facebook pages of Gilmour (www.facebook.com/davidgilmour) and Samson (www.facebook.com/pollysamson).

Official events to celebrate the novel’s publication were cancelled due to the pandemic. The book is being released today.

Gilmour and Samson married in 1994. They’ve written songs together since Pink Floyd‘s “The Division Bell” (1995).

Surrogate Bands contest postponed

Posted March 30, 2020 by Floydian Slip

Surrogate Bands, Floydian Slip’s annual Pink Floyd cover contest, has been postponed until 2021.

In light of the pandemic, we didn’t think it responsible to ask musicians to gather in close quarters of recording studios to lay down tracks to submit to the contest.

We’ll announce details of our 10th annual contest in Spring ’21.

We began Surrogate Bands in 2011 as a way for musicians to celebrate the music of Pink Floyd by recording their own versions of Floyd songs to submit to the contest. Winners have been featured during “Surrogate Bands,” a special all-covers edition of the “Floydian Slip” radio show, broadcast every July.

The “Surrogate Bands” program will air as scheduled this July, without the contest element.

Sun Broadcast Group ends sales partnership with Floydian Slip; show shines on

Posted March 24, 2020 by Floydian Slip

Though Sun Broadcast Group (SBG) has announced it will cease handling network commercial sales for “Floydian Slip” effective April 26, we want to assure affiliate stations and listeners, the show goes on.

Random Precision Media LLC (RPM) of Shelburne, Vt., produces, syndicates and distributes “Floydian Slip” to a network of more than 100 stations.

Since 2014, we’d been under contract for network ad sales with Envision Networks. SBG recently acquired Envision, and last week informed us they intended to drop “Floydian Slip” from its sales offerings.

Unfortunately, they also sent a letter to our affiliate stations erroneously stating SBG is syndicator of our show. Titled “NOTICE OF SYNDICATION/DISTRIBUTION TERMINATION,” the letter offers to provide our stations “affiliation details for replacement programs that are available for your station.”

We’re willing to believe the letter was simply a momentary lapse of reason. Nonetheless, it’s caused confusion and uncertainty among our show’s affiliate stations.

So we want to emphasize: “Floydian Slip” isn’t going away. On the contrary, we’re shining on!
