Win: Limited edition Pink Floyd vinyl

Posted August 31, 2020 by Floydian Slip

Register to win two limited edition releases originally pressed for Record Store Day 2020: A one-sided 12-inch containing “Green Is the Colour” and “Vegetable Man” from Nick Mason’s A Saucerful of Secrets; and a one-sided 45 containing “Arnold Layne” by Pink Floyd recorded live in 2007.

Both discs feature etched B-sides and have been pressed in limited editions: 4,000 copies of the Nick Mason disc; and 7,400 of the Floyd 45.

The 12-inch is a preview of Mason’s band’s “Live at the Roundhouse,” a concert film and album originally scheduled for release April 17, now set to drop Sept. 19. The full performance, recorded at the London venue in May 2019, will be available as a double LP, three-disc CD/DVD, and Blu-ray.

“Arnold Layne” is the last live performance of that song by Floyd with David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright. The performance took place at the Syd Barrett Tribute Concert at The Barbican May 10, 2007, and included Jon Carin on keyboards and vocals, and Andy Bell (Oasis) on bass.

Register to win now.

“Delicate Sound of Thunder” coming to theaters

Posted August 20, 2020 by Floydian Slip

Trafalgar Releasing will present Pink Floyd‘s “Delicate Sound of Thunder” concert film in select theaters one night only, Oct. 15.

The film, directed by Wayne Isham, was first released on VHS in June 1989. DVD and Blu-ray versions came 30 years later in 2019.

This will be the first time the Grammy-nominated movie — for “Best Long Form Music Video” — will be shown in theaters.

“Delicate Sound of Thunder” is a document of the band’s A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour shot in August 1988 at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y. Additional footage was recorded two months earlier at the Place d’Armes of the Château de Versailles, France.

Trafalgar gave a similar treatment to Nick Mason‘s “Live at the Roundhouse” this spring, and Roger Waters‘s “Us + Them” in autumn 2019.

Tickets go on sale Aug. 27 at delicatesoundofthunder.com.

Addendum (Aug. 24, 2020): The Pink Floyd Facebook page states “The cinema release of Delicate Sound of Thunder will be postponed. More details to follow.”
