The track, which also features Bryan Ferry, Peter Gabriel, and Bill Wyman, was recorded last month at EMI’s Abbey Road studio.

Nick’s track will be available as a download beginning Nov. 1. “Bandaged Together” will go on sale Nov. 9. You’ll be able to place your order online.

This will be the second “Bandaged Together” album. The first raised £250,000 for the charity.

Posted October 16, 2009 by Floydian Slip

Oklahoma psych-rockers Flaming Lips’ next album will be a track-for-track “interpretation” of Pink Floyd’s 1973 masterpiece “The Dark Side of the Moon.”

The L.A. Times reports Lips frontman Wayne Coyne (pictured) made the announcement during a Q&A session with the audience before Thursday night’s show at the Ricardo Montalban Theater in Hollywood.

The Times says the recording, which is a collaboration with Stardeath and the White Dwarfs, a band that features Coyne’s nephew, Dennis, is already finished.

Henry Rollins and Peaches make guest appearances.

The Lips’ “Dark Side” will likely be an iTunes-only release, at least initially.

Posted October 2, 2009 by Floydian Slip

The List reports electronica duo The Orb is recording with Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour.

“I’ve just started work on an album with David Gilmore (sic) from Pink Floyd, which I think every Orb and Pink Floyd fan will want to hear,” Orb founder Alex Paterson told the Scottish magazine.

The band’s first album, “Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld” (1991), featured the Battersea Power station on its cover, reminiscent of Floyd’s “Animals” (1977).

Jazz cover of “Vera” coming

Posted September 26, 2009 by Floydian Slip

Roger Waters’ “Vera” will be covered by Curtis Stigers on his upcoming album “Lost in Dreams.”

The song, which appeared on Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” in 1979, will be included in a medley with “We’ll Meet Again,” the wartime ballad that’s the trademark song of British vocalist Vera Lynn, the subject of Waters’ song.

Stigers says he got the idea for combining the songs in 1995 while in England during the 50th anniversary of V-E Day.

“I thought, ‘God, wouldn’t it be cool to put these two songs together,'” he says. “I filed the idea away, and then I brought it up with Scrapper (co-producer John “Scrapper” Sneider) when we were talking about songs for this record. His eyes lit up and he said, ‘That’s perfect. What a great idea.'”

“Lost in Dreams” will be released Sept. 29 by the Concord Jazz label.

Purchase “Medley: Vera/We’ll Meet Again” as an MP3 download. Or purchase the entire “Lost in Dreams” album online now.
