Floyd stores remaining open; switching hosts

Posted October 4, 2010 by Floydian Slip

Contrary to what we published last week, the official Web stores of Pink Floyd, David Gilmour and Syd Barrett will remain open, though are moving to a different hosting company.

Last Thursday, Musictoday’s Clayton Avent informed participants in the company’s affiliate program that the stores were leaving Musictoday and “closing.”

Today, S2BN Entertainment’s Sara Israel clarified: “We are just in the process of switching companies that host the store. The store will most likely be re-launching in the next month with a new design.”

Lawsuit filed over Roger Waters merchandising

Posted September 21, 2010 by Floydian Slip

Live Nation Merchandising Inc. filed suit in U.S. District Court in Boston over the use of Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters’ image on T-shirts and other merchandise.

The suit doesn’t name those it accuses of marketing the merchandise around Waters’ current tour of “The Wall.”

Live Nation says it has the exclusive right to market merchandise before, during and after “The Wall” performances.

Bootleg concert merchandise … there’s something you don’t see everyday.

Nick Mason: Floyd anthology in the works

Posted September 1, 2010 by Floydian Slip

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason has indicated a Pink Floyd anthology and catalog reissue might be in the works.

His comments appear in an interview published in the recent issue of Rhythm magazine.

“We’ve been developing the idea of a Pink Floyd anthology for a long time. I’ve spent quite a lot of time trying to find the material. I really enjoy that, but it’s time consuming,” he says.

“We’re talking about doing a big reissue of the Pink Floyd catalogue because there is the belief that there eventually will be the point that there simply won’t be enough market to generate those sort of packages. That would be a tragedy, so it’s a good time to do it.”
