Win tickets to “David Gilmour Live at Pompeii”

Enter now to win a pair of tickets to see the concert film “David Gilmour Live at Pompeii,” coming to theaters one night only: Wednesday, Sept. 13.

The film is a document of Gilmour’s July 2016 shows at the ancient amphitheater, 45 years after Pink Floyd famously played the same venue to an audience of none for the film “Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii.”

Music for the show is taken from Gilmour’s “Rattle That Lock” (2015) and “On an Island” (2006), and also includes a number of Floyd classics.

“Floydian Slip” has paired with Trafalgar Releasing to give you a pair of tickets to the participating theater of your choice in the United States.

Here’s the answer to the trivia question: What inspired the black and white striped design of Pink Floyd’s “The Early Years” boxset? It was the band’s 1965 Bedford van they used in their early days.

Several Species wins Surrogate Bands contest

Congratulations to Several Species — winner of our 7th Annual Surrogate Bands Pink Floyd Cover Contest.

The 11-member Baltimore-based band has been covering the music of Floyd since 1996.

They won this year’s contest with their live rendition of “Careful With That Axe, Eugene.” As a result, they receive $200 in merchandise from The Official Web Store of Pink Floyd and had their recording featured on “Floydian Slip” show #1107, which aired this past week.

Thanks to all of the people took the time and energy to submit a recording to the contest. And watch for details about our 8th annual contest announcing in Spring 2018.
