Nectar’s night club in Burlington, Vt., will play host to a series of evenings of Pink Floyd music in December.
“Dark Side of the Mountain” is a project created by drummer Matt Burr of Vermont band Grace Potter & the Nocturnals and fellow Vermont musician Bob Wagner.
Burr and Wagner will be joined by a variety of other artists each Wednesday night in December performing the music of Pink Floyd accompanied by a projection light show.
Shows Dec. 4, 11 and 18 are free to attend. The series culminates with a ticketed performance featuring Marco Benevento at Club Metronome, above Nectar’s, on Dec. 29. Tickets for the final performance are $8 in advance, $12 day of show.
“I’ll never forget the first time I heard ‘Animals’ and ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ as a kid,” says Burr. “It was a space ship for my brain, with pristine arrangements, tones, harmonies, solos, and chords. Every note was golden, and no one ever over-played.
“All of their albums continue to blow my mind, especially their masterful work in the ’70s,” he adds “The brilliant meat and potatoes drumming of Nick Mason has played a huge role in my development as a drummer.”
Burr along with the Nocturnals have toured with Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, The Allman Bros. Band, Dave Matthews, Avett Bros. and others. The group’s fourth and latest album is “The Lion The Beast The Beat,” available on Hollywood Records.
