Battersea redevelopment in doubt

Hopes to redevelop the Battersea Power Station, the ominous four-chimney structure pictured on the cover of Pink Floyd’s 1977 “Animals” album, are in doubt, as the company planning to do the work drowns in debt.

Real Estate Opportunities plans to make the nearly-80-year-old structure the centerpiece of a £4 billion riverside development to include 3,500 homes, shopping malls, hotel and environmentally-friendly office space.

But those plans are sketchy now the company is £1.62 billion debt.
