British artist Duggie Fields, who at one time shared an apartment with Pink Floyd co-founder Syd Barrett, died yesterday. He was 76.
A painter since age 11, Fields attended the Chelsea School of Art from 1964 to 1968. In the ’70s he developed his trademark Day-Glo color style that was said to have influenced notables such as David Bowie, Stanley Kubrick and Ken Kesey.
In 1968, Fields shared an Earl’s Court flat with Barrett shortly after he left Floyd. Roommates for only a couple of years, Fields remained in the same property for decades.
