Over the last several years we’ve worked hard to bring “Floydian Slip” to more and more listeners by adding affiliate stations to our Random Precision Radio Network.
Today we stopped pursuing new affiliates owned by iHeartMedia Inc. and Cumulus Media Inc.
Since self-syndicating in 2009, we’ve pitched more than 2,100 stations, and have managed to greatly increase our network to 105 affiliates in more than 40 states. But stations owned by iHeartMedia and Cumulus have been a bust.
We’ve only managed to get on one iHeartMedia station: KKZX 98.9 FM, Spokane, Wash., carried the show from 2012-14. KQCL 95.9 FM, Faribault, Minn., carried the show in 2011 when it was owned by Cumulus.
“I loved the show when we were airing it and heard from quite a few listeners when we had to drop it,” then-KQCL Program Director Mike Eiler told us in 2012. “Unfortunately, Cumulus spent the last year shedding most of the barter programs and replacing them with shows that they produce or own.”
It’s most frustrating when we find local programmers who desperately want to add our show, but find it impossible to get sign-off from their corporate higher-ups.
We’ll always be happy to add to our network any station that shows an interest in “Floydian Slip.” But, going forward, we’re focusing our efforts where there’s the most chance for success.
Thanks to all of our affiliate stations for signing on and shining on.
And, if you’re a regular listener to “Floydian Slip,” be sure to let your local affiliate station know you’re a fan.
