“Roger Waters The Wall” is set for release on DVD, Blu-ray, digital download and 2-disc Blu-ray special edition Nov. 16. A soundtrack CD is coming this autumn as well.
The film, which screened in theaters last night, was shot during Waters’ 2010-13 world tour. Seen by more than 4 million fans at 219 shows, the tour was the highest grossing tour by any solo artist in history.
Beyond the concert, the film incorporates behind-the-scenes footage and additional scenes of Waters trekking to the site in France where his grandfather is buried and Italy to a memorial for his father — both lost to war — in a style that straddles narrative and documentary styles.
The DVD, Blu-ray and digital download releases from UPHE Content Group will feature bonus footage of Waters visiting the grave of poet and soldier Frank Thompson, who lost his life during World War II.
The 2-disc Blu-ray special edition features more than 95 minutes of bonus footage from when Waters was joined on stage by David Gilmour and Nick Mason at London’s O2 Arena in a performance of “Comfortably Numb” during “The Wall Live” tour, as well as driving outtakes from the road movie, art cards, a poster and booklet.
The film’s soundtrack will be released this fall by Sony Music.
