Satellite radio company Sirius XM will debut The Pink Floyd Channel on May 25.
The 24/7 service devoted to the band will begin on Deep Tracks (Channel 27) May 25 through 28, and then move to Sirius Channel 142/XM Channel 43 from May 29 through July 9.
Starting June 29, the service will also be available online and through the company’s mobile app for “an extended period,” according to a news release.
The channel, hosted and curated by Jim Ladd, will feature music from Floyd as well as the band’s members.
Sirius XM has created temporary channels devoted to other artists in the past, such as Paul McCartney, The Who, Metallica, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and many others.
It appears uncertain whether The Pink Floyd Channel will become a permanent offering, such as the company’s channels devoted to Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Presley and Jimmy Buffet.
Come on in, Sirius XM … the water’s fine.
