Announcing Floydian Slip’s “Surrogate Bands: The Pink Floyd Cover Contest!”

Submit your own recording of a Floyd song for a chance to win some great prizes and have your song aired on the “Floydian Slip” radio show.

One first prize winner will get $250 in merchandise from Boston Acoustics. And … we’ll air their recording during a special all-covers edition of the “Floydian Slip” radio show: Our “Surrogate Bands” special will run for a week starting June 30 on all 30 “Floydian Slip” affiliate stations.

Second prize is $75 in Floyd merchandise from The Official Web Store of Pink Floyd.

Plus … Every entrant receives a free one-year subscription to Sound+Vision magazine.

We received from Hot Wheels Elite in Italy today the scale model we’ll be giving away Wednesday.

Read more about the model, which is a replica of Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason‘s.

The folks at Hot Wheels Elite have been kind enough to provide us with one of a limited edition of 5,000 scale replicas of Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason‘s Ferrari 512 S to give away.

The model retails for about $100.

Gilmour-signed photos up for bid

Three signed, framed photos of Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour are up for bid on eBay to benefit relief efforts in Japan.

View the listing and place your bid.

The auction, which ends at about 2 p.m. EDT, includes three photos taken of Gilmour and his guitars on Aug. 26, 2006, at the “It Started in Gdansk — The Space of Freedom” concert.

The event took place at the invitation of Lech Walesa to celebrate the 26th anniversary of the founding of Solidarity, the Polish trade union. The photos, taken by Anna Wloch, show Gilmour during sound check; a selection of his guitars; and David and his wife, Polly Samson, with Walesa.

As of this writing, bidding stands at £1,550 — about $2,540.
