Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has purchased a £3 million beachfront home in the southern English town of Hove.
He and his wife, Polly Samson, have hired an architectural firm from nearby Brighton to renovate the six-story structure, which is at the corner of Medina Terrace and King’s Esplanade, yards from the beach.
The home has six bedrooms, five baths, and includes a two-bedroom apartment on the ground floor.
According to the architect’s Web site, which lists the owners as “Mr. and Mrs. Samson,” the renovation will use low-carbon technologies and incorporate a solar water heating system, grey water recycling and a ventilation system with heat recovery.
The property previously belonged to Karron Eubank, former wife of boxer Chris Eubank.

We’ve started selling “Floydian Slip” USB flashdrives at our Web site.
Each drive is 128 MB, USB 2 (USB 1-compatible), and about 3″ x 0.75″. They’re black, gray and silver, and sport our logo and Web address.
When you purchase a drive — for $12.99 each — you’re supporting our campaign to expand the “Floydian Slip” radio show to additional markets.
Each drive we sell just about covers our costs of putting a promotional package pitching our show into the hands of another radio station program director. (In fact, these are the same drives we’re using to deliver demos of our show to potential affiliate stations.)

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason will be heard on a new track to be released Nov. 1 to benefit a children’s charity.
Nick will drum — and sing! — on a cover of The Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love.” The track will appear on “Bandaged Together,” a double-album to benefit the BBC’s Children in Need charity.
The track, which also features Bryan Ferry, Peter Gabriel, and Bill Wyman, was recorded last month at EMI’s Abbey Road studio.
Nick’s track will be available as a download beginning Nov. 1. “Bandaged Together” will go on sale Nov. 9. You’ll be able to place your order online.
This will be the second “Bandaged Together” album. The first raised £250,000 for the charity.
